In a significant milestone for transparent water management, the Platform for a Water Secure Gauteng (PWSG) has released its inaugural Water Security Dashboard, developed in partnership with the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) and key regional stakeholders.

The dashboard offers unprecedented visibility into Gauteng’s water system performance, providing stakeholders and citizens with crucial data across multiple indicators:

– Real-time water consumption patterns and trends
– Current system status and capacity levels
– Detailed infrastructure performance metrics
– Non-revenue water monitoring
– Updates on municipal water management initiatives

This innovative tool represents a new era of collaboration between the public sector, the private sector, and civil society partners. By providing a unified view of our water system’s status, the dashboard enables all stakeholders to make informed decisions and track collective progress toward water security goals.

“This dashboard exemplifies what we can achieve when different sectors unite around a common purpose,” says Dr. Sean Phillips, who led the initiative. “It’s designed to evolve based on stakeholder needs and feedback.”

The dashboard is now accessible on the DWS website. Users are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions for future improvements via pwsg@dws.gov.za.
